Modern Macedonia lays its claim to the ancient conqueror´s legacy
This was the title of an article in the January/February 2009 issue of ARCHAEOLOGY magazine, a publication of the Archaeological Institute of America.
The article, written by Matthew Brunwasser, describes the efforts of archaeologist Viktor Lilcic of Skopje University, who implies, and wishes to discover, a direct connection between FYROM (former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) and ancient Macedonia, the kingdom of Alexander the Great.
In response to this article, Professor Stephen G. Miller (Professor Emeritus, University of California, Berkeley) wrote a letter to the editor of the magazine on January 22, 2009 explaining the fallacy of FYROM's position over important historical facts. (This letter was not published).
